A Family Tradition for Life’s Transitions
Founded in 1967 The Center for Extended Care at Amherst (CECAA) has been and continues to be family owned and maintains a very long tradition of caring for older adults.
1967 – 2015
The Amherst Nursing Home (now CECAA) first opened in 1967 as an 81 bed nursing home. It first expanded by 41 beds in 1993 adding another 12 beds in 1997 to create the 134 bed nursing home that we enjoy today.
CECA has a 53 Dementia Special Care Unit to meet the unique needs of this population. In addition we have a 43 bed traditional long term care unit and a 38 bed unit whose focus is on rehabilitation and shorter term recuperation.
2015 – Present
The tradition of being a family owned operations continues through today. At the end of 2015, the original owners were very pleased to sell the business to another family owned group. The new owners operate several facilities and bring their life-time of experience, expertise and passion for quality care to all that we do now will continue to and in the future.
Family ownership matters and we are glad that this tradition continues for all of our staff and residents here at CECAA.
